Progressive Worker

The Progressive Workers Movement was a Marxist organization in Vancouver BC, active mainly from 1964 to 1970. This site is an archive of PW literature. Everything is scanned at 150dpi. Some issues have been OCRed and transformed to HTML so that they can be searched and indexed by crawlers.

This site is incomplete. The curator has in his possession everything ever published by PW except for a minor pamphlet entitled The IWA Fiasco which is currently unavailable. Documents will be added to the site as time permits.

This site exists for a twofold purpose. First, that a piece of working class history not be lost. Second, the "Progressive Worker" canon and associated writings are made available for research.

Christopher Hedges has repeatedly observed (and I paraphrase) that a conscious and concerted effort has been made in North America by the ruling class and their agents to eradicate records of left wing proletarian history. This is a modest effort to counter that trend.

It is a well-worn truism that those who don't understand history are condemned to repeat it. Please, learn what you may from our triumphs and defeats. If you have suggestions or recommendations to improve this site, please contact .
